Trọng Long is a Cohort 3 student who PVF selected in Thanh Hóa in 2011. His name came in prominently in the line-up of the Vietnam U16 in 2015 and 2016. Playing as a Centre Midfielder, Trọng Long is always present at the hot spots in the middle line to retrieve the ball, and smash the opponent’s plans to launch attacks right in infancy.
Trọng Long’s tackles never give the impression of foul play or ill will. Instead this midfielder invariably tackles neatly and gently in the most efficient manner. He also takes the role of the boss of the center line, and regulates the tempo of the style at his own will. That is the reason why this young player is always trusted as a captain on the Vietnam U16.
Nguyễn Trọng Long also surpassed 23 contenders from across the country in the closing of the Football Dream Vietnam 2014 program to earn an only ticket to Senegal to partake in the world final.

- The sole Vietnamese representative to earn a spot at the world final of the Football Dreams program at Aspire Academy - Senegal in 2014
- Runner-up of the National U15 in 2014 (with the PVF U15)
- Runner-up of the National U15 in 2015 (with the PVF U15)
- Runner-up of the National U17 in 2016 (with the PVF U17)
- Champion of the National U17 Tournament in 2017 with the PVF U17
- Runner-up of the National U19 in 2017 (with the PVF U19)
b. At the national youth team level:
- In 2015, he and the Vietnam U16 earned a ticket to the final of the 2016 AFC U16 Championship
- Runner-up of the 2016 AFF U-19 Youth Championship
- He and the Vietnam U16, for the first time, earned a ticket to the quarterfinal of the AFC U16 Championship after 16 years.
