Lê Quang Trãi

Leader of Pre-Development Coaching team

Lê Quang Trãi was born on February 11, 1977 in Thừa Thiên – Huế but lived in Cao Lãnh City, Đồng Tháp Province. Quang Trãi was listed in the latter half of the Vietnam football “golden generation” (in the late 1990s and early 2000s). Trãi was only in his early twenties back then. He played with Văn Sỹ, Trung Tuấn, Huỳnh Đức and the elder brothers like Công Minh at SEA Games and AFF Cup (whose predecessor was Tiger Cup). In fact, Quang Trãi’s footballer career was not always smooth. Apart from three seasons with Hoàng Anh Gia Lai from 2003 to 2005, which are considered Trãi’s greatest success, he mostly experienced failures. He is truly a shining example of diligence, persistence and patience.

To maintain his body shape and steady performance, apart from the innate physique of a farmer, he always stuck to a rigorous training regime, and cherished his passion and responsibility towards his football calling. Even at 35 and 36, Quang Trãi still competed in Vietnam’s highest-rank football. He was the captain and took part in almost every match during the 2011-2012 season with Cần Thơ Club. Upon his retirement, he spent some time coaching young players in Cần Thơ, before being recruited by PVF in June 2014.

A good-natured man of few words, he always demonstrates his fervor for football on training fields. He and his colleagues have painstakingly passed on his 15-year footballing experience to the young generations at PVF in hopes of glorifying Vietnamese football later on.
