The two semi-finals of the 2019 KUN Children’s National Football Championship were contested on July 31st, at Đắk Lắk Sports Arena.
Special attention was put on the first semi-final between two title favorites – Sông Lam Nghệ An U11 and PVF U11. The ensuing encounter had lived up to the expectation of an early championship decider.
SLNA U11 (in yellow) and PVF U11 played out a scintillating match.
Thanks to better game mentality and powerful gameplay, the team from Nghệ An gained the upper hand in the first half. With a tactical approach dependant on direct balls and low crosses across the goal, SLNA U11 players showcased great instinct in front of the target.
It was no surprise that the team in yellow was the one who broke the deadlock, thanks to Hà Đức Nguyên quickfire attempt inside the box on 9th minute. It was not long before the advantage was doubled. From a low cross, SLNA U11 top scorer Trần Hải Đăng slotted the one-touch finish past the goalkeeper.
PVF U11 finish third in the tournament.
However, similar to the quarter-final match against SHB Đà Nẵng U11, SLNA U11 performance once again dropped off in the second half, as they allowed PVF U11 to dominate and create numerous dangerous opportunities in front of goalkeeper Minh Quân’s goal. PVF U11 eventually reduced the deficit via Hoàng Khanh’s impressive free kick on 27th minute.
Not long after, Hoàng Khanh put his name on the score sheet again after converting from the penalty spot. The match finished 2-2 after regulation, which means the match had to be decided via penalty shootout. Once again, PVF U11 came up short after missing the final kick, and squandered the opportunity to play for the championship.
In the other semi-final, Hà Nội U11 defeated Quảng Ngãi U11 3-1.
With these results, PVF U11 and Quảng Ngãi U11 both finished third in the 2019 Children’s National Football Championship. Meanwhile, SLNA U11 and Hà Nội U11 will face off to determine the champions.
