In the afternoon of September 23, the group stage of the National U17 Championship Finals – Next Media 2020 ended with the last match in Group B to define the winner and its runner- up and Nutifood Academy had an impressive performance to beat SLNA by 4 to 2.
Since both teams had already gone into the semi-final early in the previous round, the players joined in with ease. This helped the match be exciting and opened right after the whistle, with rhythmic and methodical coordination from both two teams. However, following the match progress, the players of Nutifood Academy gradually dominated the game. Meanwhile, SLNA seemed to save fitness for the semi-final, so they didn’t really try their best in speeding up and putting pressure on the opponent’s field.
Beating SLNA 4-2, Nutifood Academy (white) finished the group stage in first place in Group B.
After a number of missed chances, Nutifood Academy took the lead 1-0 in the 25th minute. From a corner kick, that the defense and goalkeeper of SLNA didn’t choose the dropping point well created a favorable chance for Khanh Duy to easily head to score in the penalty area. By the 34th minute, the score was 2-0 for Nutifood Academy after a goalkeeper Van Tan’s distraction that surprised him at a straight strong shot to his goal from a nearly 40m free kick by Hoang Minh. It was again Hoang Minh 5 minutes later that scored the third goal into the goalkeeper Van Tan’s net with a left-footed shot inside the penalty area.
Nutifood’s victory was well deserving with a beautiful and dedicated playing style.
With the 3-0 lead in the first half, Nutifood Academy proactively reduced the pace in the second half to avoid possible unfortunate injuries. However, they still scored one more goal to widen the gap to 4-0 in the 54th minute, when Quoc Viet ended a beautiful central attack combination with an exit and finish when facing Van Tan’s goalkeeper. In such an arranged game, SLNA, despite making more efforts during the rest time, was only able to score 2 goals thanks to Van Bac’s and Van Bach’s strikes in the 60th and 85th minute then finally received a 2-4 defeat and gave the top spot to Nutifood Academy.
Saigon (red) and Phu Yen (green) left the Finals with a 1-1 draw.
In such a procedural game that took place at the same time, Saigon and Phu Yen shared the points with a 1-1 draw. Van Binh helped Sai Gon take the lead after a high header in the penalty box in the 65th minute and Huu Tin equalized for Phu Yen with a close-range finish in the 85th minute.
