PVF to finish third place at 2020 National U17 Championship

Losing 1-4 in the 11m penalty shootout in the second semi-final on September 25, PVF finished third place at the 2020 National U17 Championship.

The second semi-final took place at 18:00 on September 25. It was a competition between the two teams at the same level. One side was the current runner-up PVF, the other side was Song Lam Nghe An – the most successful team in the history of the U17 National Championship.

PVF, with the advantage of playing on a familiar field, had higher rate of ball possession. However, the home team faced many difficulties in front of a tight defense from Song Lam Nghe An U17. The most notable finish that the team of coach Dinh The Nam created in the first half was a direct shot in the narrow corner of Van Son at the 25th minute, but failed to win against SLNA goalkeeper Canh Tiep.

The game situation in the second half did not change much. Both teams played safely and were focused in defense. Meanwhile, the strikers do not have many solutions to make a breakthrough.
Having not scored a goal against the opponent after 90 minutes of the game, PVF and Song Lam Nghe An must come to the penalty shootout. In this brain battle, Song Lam Nghe An won 4-1.
With this result, PVF U17 left the tournament with the third place, same as Hoang Anh Gia Lai U17.
