Ten-man Promotion Fund for Vietnamese Football Talent (PVF) defeated Viettel 2-1 to win the National U17 Football Championship yesterday in HCM City.
Huỳnh Công Đến opened the scoring just four minutes into the match for PVF, who lost 1-2 in last year’s final to Đồng Tháp.
It was 2-0 for PVF when Lê Văn Đô sent a free kick into the corner of the net in the 42nd minute.
Viettel’s chances improved when PVF’s Nguyễn Đình Sang was sent off just 15 minutes after the interval, having tripped Trần Minh Hiếu in front of his box in an attempt to stop Hiếu from scoring.

The numerical disparity forced PVF to defend for their lives the rest of the match.
Nguyễn Thanh Bình gave Viettel hope in the 83rd minute, scoring from a header with his back to goal.
Apart from the championship trophy, PVF also had Trương Thái Hiếu recognised as best goalkeeper.
Viettel’s Nhâm Mạnh Dũng received the awards for best player and top scorer with eight goals. HCM City, who shared third place with Hoàng Anh Gia Lai, received the fair play award. — VNS
